How much does an Advanced Cancer Screening cost?

The Advanced Cancer Screening cost is £1950. This includes a pre-assessment appointment from the screening GP and a results report by a specialist.

What areas of the body does the Advanced Cancer Screening cover?

The screening scans from the head to the upper thigh. The areas analysed include the brain, spine, lungs, colon, prostate, breast, bladder, kidney, liver, and pancreas. It also screens for lymphomas (tumours of the blood) and myelomas (tumours of the skin).

How effective is the scan at detecting cancer?

The Advanced Cancer Screening scan can detect cancers as small as 5-10mm in size. The scan can also identify lymphomas (tumours of the blood) and myelomas (tumours of the skin).

Can I self-refer or do I need to be referred by a GP?

You don’t need to be referred by a GP and can self-refer. A few days prior to the screening, you will have a 20 minute pre-assessment telephone appointment with a GP to discuss your medical history and any health concerns. This pre-assessment appointment is included in the £1950 price.

How long will it take to receive my results?

Your screening results and report will usually be available within 72 hours after having your Advanced Cancer Screening appointment. The results will be sent to you via email. We can also post your results to you if you would prefer, but please be aware that they make take slightly longer to arrive.

Will my screening results be shared with my GP?

Your screening results and report will not be shared with your GP unless you specifically request that we do so. 

Do Bupa or other health insurance companies cover the cost of Advanced Cancer Screening?

Some insurance companies will cover (or part cover) the cost of an Advanced Cancer Screening, depending on your type of policy. You will need to contact your insurance company directly to confirm this.

Should I book an Advanced Cancer Screening appointment if I have a sudden onset health problem?

If you have suddenly become unwell and/or are in pain, you should seek an urgent GP appointment. If you are unable to get an appointment with your own GP, then you can book an appointment with a Private GP in London by calling us at 0207 079 2100 or emailing [email protected].

You can also call NHS 111, but if your pain is severe, then you should go to A&E. If you are unable to travel due to the severity of your pain, the please call 999.

Should I have an Advanced Cancer Screening if I already have been diagnosed with cancer and/or having tests with another clinic/hospital (e.g. NHS)?

If you are currently having tests for cancer diagnosis or are already in a medical pathway for suspected cancer, then the Advanced Cancer Screening service is not appropriate. However, if you would like to see a consultant for a second opinion, we can arrange for you to see one of our consultants.

Are any additional tests included in the Advanced Cancer Screening appointment?

No other tests are included in the Advanced Cancer Screening, just a 20min pre-assessment call with the screening GP and the scan itself. You can however, request other tests like bloods/faecal and swab tests at an additional charge that can be performed on the day of the scan. What if I have other medical concerns?

If you have any concerns, medical issues or worries, please seek guidance from your GP to discuss further. If you are unable to get an appointment with your own GP, then we can arrange an appointment for you to see one of our in-house private GPs.
